Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be produced by incomplete combustion. If your furnace isn’t running safely, say, due to a cracked heat exchanger or blocked exhaust pipe, it can produce dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
That’s why every home should have a working carbon monoxide detector (or CO detector). If it goes off, leave immediately and call for help. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning can include:
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Confusion
Don’t wait for symptoms or a furnace gas leak. Prevention is everything here.Â
