Why Do Furnace Ignitors Fail?
Ignitors don’t last forever. In fact, they’re one of the more commonly replaced furnace components. Over time, repeated heating cycles can weaken the ignitor. Power surges, dirt buildup, or even small handling damage during maintenance can also shorten its lifespan.
Most furnace ignitors last anywhere from 3 to 7 years, depending on usage and maintenance. Regular furnace maintenance helps catch early signs of a faulty ignitor before it fails completely.
